Dear Everyone

Christmas and New Year are upon us and everyone is looking forward to the break from work that isassociated with these days and spending time with family and friends.

This past year we have had many successes in LSST and I would like to acknowledge the contribution of staff and students to making our college a learning institution that is free from barriers to learning and a safe and friendly environment for all stakeholders.

Thank you all for your consistent and ongoing efforts and your willingness and enthusiasm to make LSST a better place!

Walt Disney once said ‘You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful ideas in the world, but it requires people to make the dream a reality’ (1954). This is certainly the case, here in LSST. The reality is that the learning experiences and projects that have taken place this past year could not have happened without a great deal of commitment, support and willingness from both staff and students.

When I reflect on last year and the road to improving LSST even more, I can certainly say that the road has had bumps and many challenges but the rewards have far outweighed the challenges encountered in the process.

The latest success is, of course, our partnership with London Metropolitan University. You all know that we now have Foundation Degrees and Top Ups in the areas of Computing, Hospitality, Business and Health and Social Care – and the first cohorts on these degrees will be commencing in January 2016.

May I take this opportunity and wish everyone all the very best and have a well-deserved break.

Coming back we will, of course, have a new set of challenges to deal with in order to maintain and improve performance even more, but in the words of Sun Tzu (circa 512 BC) ‘Opportunities multiply as they are seized’.
