Hospitality Management Course Launched at London Campus

From May 2016, London School of Science & Technology will be offering a new course in Hospitality Management at our London Campus. Available at HND level, this brand new course will attract students wanting to learn the tricks of the trade with applications now open. Candidates who successfully enrol onto the course will cover topics such as travel and tourism, event management, customer service and finance and marketing in hospitality. The programme will be particularly beneficial for those who hope to forge a career in the hospitality, leisure and tourism sectors, with employment available in restaurants, clubs, food and drink services, visitor attractions and leisure companies. The hospitality industry is continuously booming and a qualification in this area enhances employability. According to the Office of National Statistics (ONS), employment in the UK tourism industry grew by 11.72 % between 2009- 2014, which is double that of the non-tourism industry over the same period. Some of the careers in this field include: hotel manager, restaurant manager and events planner. Once the Diploma is completed, students are then able to apply for membership of the Institute of Hospitality which is the professional body for managers and aspiring managers in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries. Speaking of the new venture, Principal of LSST Dr George Panagiotou said: “The wider travel and tourism industries in the UK are second, after finance, and the first worldwide in employing well over one in every seven people in the world. “Consequently, studying a Hospitality Management course at levels 4 and 5 will not only enable successful applicants to gain employment in the industry, but also allow them access to higher level degrees.
