Meet cycling enthusiast Bill Piper, a Y2 Business Management student at LSST Aston. On 19 June (Father’s Day), he will be cycling from London to Brighton to fundraise for the British Heart Foundation – an organisation close to his heart.

Packed with energy, Bill, who had open-heart surgery in 2001, reminds us: ‘In this race, everyone is a winner. No one gets left behind as everyone supports everyone. I took part back in 2018 and, returning after a two-year hiatus owing to the pandemic, I am extremely eager to do it again to raise money for - and awareness of - the British Heart Foundation.’

Lynnette Douglas, Senior Welfare, Disability and Student Support Officer, at LSST’s Aston campus, added: ‘From the moment Bill arrived, he displayed a can-do attitude. His determination inspires us. Bill has proved to be a great role model for other students with health challenges.’

Lee Sumner, London to Brighton Event Manager at the British Heart Foundation, said: ‘It’s brilliant to hear that Bill is taking on the British Heart Foundation’s London to Brighton Bike Ride. We cannot wait to see him and the thousands of cyclists heroically pedal the 54 miles from London to Brighton, all in the name of raising money for life-saving research and the 7.6 million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory diseases.’
