LSST takes over former BBC building to open 2nd Luton campus to students

LSST opens the doors to its second campus in Luton – and sixth in fleet – transforming the former BBC Broadcasting House building into a modern learning environment for its students, staff, and alumni. With student experience, employability and enterprise at the heart of the building’s redesign, the campus includes cutting-edge teaching rooms, IT suites, a library and a cafeteria with ample break areas.
‘We are extremely excited to open our incredible new Luton Hastings campus,’ said Mr Syed Zaidi, LSST’s CEO, speaking about achieving the pinnacle milestone after several years of planning and development. ‘There has been a substantial investment into the campus site, and this is mirrored by the vibrant and modern learning environment offered to our students.’
Councillor Maria Lovell, Mayor of Luton, added: ‘Education is vital to Luton and its economy. Not only does it give individuals the tools they need to be able to thrive, but also, it provides jobs and opportunities at many different levels. The fact that LSST is able to expand at this challenging time for the town is a positive sign and I hope it will give many people the skills they need to fulfil their ambitions.’
‘LSST Luton Hastings complements the existing LSST Luton Dunstable campus,’ said Irina Barariu, LSST’s Student Union President. ‘The campuses are only 200 metres apart allowing students to have the best of everything nearby, including the best shopping centres, restaurants, sports centres and historic locations.’
Dr Wendy Wigley, Head of Student Enhancement, Life-cycle and Support, added: ‘We are delighted that the Luton Hastings Campus is now open to our students offering a range of professionally-orientated courses. We know that students who succeed academically in higher education go on to have full and meaningful careers that enhance the social outcomes for them and their families.’
Aqeel Syed, Dean of Luton Campuses, summated: ‘The premise for the new campus was based on student enhancement initiatives and was developed from scratch. The growth of LSST and its phenomenal university accredited courses in business, healthcare and computing has transformed the Luton area and addresses issues of those students missing from higher education who are finding it challenging to obtain a second chance to achieve a university degree.’
