OIA Important Information

Here at LSST we are committed to providing a friendly and safe environment for all our students so that they can engage with their studies in secure surroundings both physically and online.
The management and staff of LSST recognise the responsibility of maintaining a safe environment and promoting the welfare of all our students and we deplore radicalisation, extremism, and terrorism of any kind.

To that end, we fully support the latest governmental guidelines to be vigilant against any such potential threats, to promote British values and to encourage students to regard others with respect and courtesy.

Consequently, we have in place a policy on Preventing Extremism and Radicalisation as well as concern form and both are available on our website and VLE.
Please familiarise yourselves with these documents, and if in the regrettable event that you identify something suspicious, please report any such behaviour to our student support services office.

Let's all make sure that LSST remains a pleasant and safe environment for all, irrespective of our diverse national, regional, religious, and ethnic identities, sexual orientation, and/or our many other variances, and have mutual respect and understanding for each other.

Since September 2015 LSST has been a member of the The Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education (OIA)'s scheme. The OIA has published good practice guidance to support Universities and Colleges dealing with complaints and academic appeals by students in higher education: http://oiahe.org.uk/providers-and-good-practice/good-practice-framework.aspx, which LSST has adopted and incorporated into its complaints and academic appeals procedure. Further details of the OIA Scheme can be found here: http://www.oiahe.org.uk/about-us/using-the-scheme.aspx
