Disability Services

Disability Services

“I choose not to place ‘DIS’ in my ABILITY”

Advice, guidance, and support to students with physical or learning disabilities including:

  • Sensory impairment
  • Long term medical conditions
  • Specific learning difficulties

It is important to declare you have a disability when completing an application to study at LSST. Failure to do so may result in delays to any support you will need. Once your application has been submitted and considered, you will be contacted by our Disability Advisor Robert Pitchers for an interview to discuss the support you may need.

Come to us if

  • You have a disability, disabling/long-term (diabetes, epilepsy, etc) medical condition or specific learning difficulty
  • You think you may be dyslexic and have a post-school dyslexia report
  • You require advice on services the University and external agencies can provide to facilitate your studies
  • There are barriers to study which you think could be related to a disability or specific learning difficulty
  • You require information on the process of applying for a Disabled Students’ Allowance and/or wonder whether you would qualify
  • You have a Disabled Students’ Allowance and want to know how to access services

  • Arrange access to mental health mentoring for students in receipt of Disabled Students’ Allowances, where mentoring has been recommended
  • Offering advice on support needs, for example coloured paper and overlays to aid students with dyslexia, and advice on strategies how to cope within the classroom and assignments.
