SUPPORTING STUDENTS WITH DISABILITY

Advice, guidance, and support if you are student with:

    •  Learning difficulty
    •  Health problems (including mental health)
    •  Disability

Please let us know you have a disability when completing an application to study at LSST. Failure to do so may result in delays to any support you will need. Once your application has been submitted and considered, you will be contacted by local student support team for an interview to discuss the support you may need..

Please let us know if you have

A specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia, dyspraxia or AD(H)D

Social/communication impairment such as Asperger's syndrome/other autistic spectrum disorder

A long standing illness or health condition such as cancer, HIV, diabetes, chronic heart disease, or epilepsy

A mental health condition, such as depression, schizophrenia or anxiety disorder

A physical impairment or mobility issues, such as difficulty using arms or using a wheelchair or crutches

Deaf or a serious hearing impairment

Blind or a serious visual impairment uncorrected by glasses

How we can help

  1. Advice and information on Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSAS)
  2. Reasonable adjustment to facilitate your study
  3. Advice and information for managing student life and health
  4. Access to other services within the College or with mental health services in community
  5. Liaise with academic and other departments on behalf of students, where agreed
  6. Arrange access to mental health mentoring for students in receipt of Disabled Students' Allowances, where mentoring has been recommended
  7. Offering advice on support needs, for example coloured paper and overlays to aid students with dyslexia, and advice on strategies how to cope within the classroom and assignments.
  8. Arrange for an independent assessement if you think you have a specific learning difference.*

*A fee will be required.
