Career Fair at LSST Elephant and Castle Highlights the Crucial Role of Graduate Employment

LSST Elephant and Castle proudly hosted a highly impactful Careers Fair on 06 March 2024, shining a spotlight on the pivotal role of graduate employment within the contemporary career market landscape.
Hosting 16 employers ranging from Barclays to Total jobs to Veritas to the National Careers Service, the fair provided an exceptional opportunity for LSST’s students to engage with leading employers and delve into a diverse array of career prospects spanning various industries.
Under the guidance of career services professionals, attendees garnered invaluable insights into the intricacies of the job market and honed vital skills essential for navigating the transition from academia to professional life.
Charlie Tennant, LSST’s Vice Principal, said: ‘It was a delight to see LSST’s Careers Fairs kick off at our Elephant and Castle campus and it was a pleasure to see a myriad of employers and organisations speaking with our students at length about opportunities available to them in Southwark and the surrounding areas.’
Syed Rizvi, Academic Dean of LSST’s Elephant & Castle Campus and Dean of Learning & Teaching, articulated the significance of the event, remarking: ‘The Careers Fair represents a crucial juncture in our students’ journey towards meaningful and fulfilling careers. In an era marked by escalating global competition, securing LSST graduate employment not only signifies an accomplishment but also serves as a fundamental catalyst for personal and professional advancement.’
The event showcased keynote addresses delivered by esteemed industry luminaries, immersive workshops, and networking opportunities meticulously crafted to give LSST students the acumen and proficiency requisite for success in their chosen vocations.
Foteini Meleti, Career & Employability Coordinator at LSST Elephant and Castle, who facilitated the event, said: ‘Distinguished representatives from prominent organisations not only offered a plethora of excellent careers but also imparted invaluable perspectives on prevailing industry trends, recruitment methodologies, and the ideal attributes sought in prospective candidates.’
Mr Ali Jafar Zaidi, LSST Deputy CEO, reiterated LSST’s unwavering commitment to nurturing adept professionals poised to thrive in today’s dynamic workforce, asserting, ‘We are steadfast in our resolve to cultivate the next generation of leaders and innovators.
