“Your next career move could start with a conversation.” That was the idea in action at LSST’s Elephant & Castle Careers Fair on 15 October 2026, where employers met business and healthcare students to discuss career paths and possibilities beyond the classroom.

Connecting directly with teams from the Metropolitan Police, CIS Security, LDN London, Travelteer and Staff Playbook,LSST Elephant & Castle students had a behind-the-scenes look at where their skills can take them – opening up career opportunities they might never have even considered before.

Careers guidance built around students

Alessandro Rizzo, Regional Careers and Employability Officer at LSST, who coordinated the event, said: “No two students have the same ambitions, which is why careers guidance has to start with the individual. We help students explore their options, consider paths they may not have thought about and identify the skills they need to get there. Meeting employers adds another dimension, giving students the chance to ask questions and discover opportunities beyond the job description. The aim is for every career conversation to leave them with a fresh perspective and a better sense of where they want to go next.”

Charlie Tennant, Vice Principal at LSST, said: “Our talented Careers and Employability team is instrumental in helping students bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be. Through our careers fairs and industry guest talks, we bring real workplace insights straight to campus. It’s about ensuring our students aren’t limited by what they currently know about the job market but are instead empowered to discover new career possibilities and make ambitious moves.”

Syed Rizvi, Dean of Learning and Teaching and Academic Dean of LSST Elephant & Castle and LSST Stratford, said: “Education is most powerful when students can see where their learning can take them. Connecting academic knowledge with professional life helps them recognise the value of their skills and how they can apply them in the workplace.”

Eniana Gobuzi, Associate Dean at LSST Elephant & Castle, added: “There is more than one route to a successful future. At our campus, we passionately help our students to broaden their career horizons through meaningful conversations and discover opportunities they may never have considered.”

The careers fair brought five organisations onto campus and on our student job boards (for students who could not attend). LSST thanks the Metropolitan Police, CIS Security, LDN London, Travelteer and Staff Playbook for taking the time to meet students and share their insights:

  • LDN London shared several support worker vacancies, attracting strong expressions of interest from LSST students.
  • CIS Security presented opportunities across security, administration and HR, alongside apprenticeship routes.
  • Metropolitan Police outlined career opportunities ranging from Police Community Support Officer roles to more senior positions, including detective.
  • Staff Playbook highlighted flexible, zero-hours agency work, offering students the opportunity to gain experience around their studies and other commitments.
  • Travelteer introduced international tutoring opportunities during academic holiday periods, enabling students to develop their skills and build global connections.
