Graduation Ceremony 2026
Honouring Achievement, Celebrating Success, Shaping Tomorrow
London School of Science and Technology is holding its Graduation Ceremony
We are thrilled to celebrate your academic success with you and look forward to welcoming you to our Graduation Ceremony. This is your special day, and we are here to make it memorable for you.
Graduation is one of the most significant milestones in every student's academic journey. It marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, while celebrating the beginning of exciting new opportunities.
Who is eligible to attend the graduation ceremony?
Five graduation ceremonies will be held for students who have successfully completed their studies and received confirmation of their award before the relevant Expression of Interest deadline.
Please note that these graduation ceremonies are exclusively for students who graduated from a Buckinghamshire New University programme within the past 12 months.
All eligible graduates will receive a personalised invitation. Please note that your award must be formally confirmed before you can attend a graduation ceremony.
If your award is confirmed after the relevant Expression of Interest deadline, you will not be eligible to attend that particular ceremony. You will instead be invited to a later graduation ceremony once your award has been formally confirmed.

On the Day
What time should my guests and I arrive for the ceremony?
Please arrive at least one hour before the scheduled start time of your ceremony. This will allow sufficient time to collect your tickets and academic robes and ensure that you and your guests are seated at least 30 minutes before the ceremony begins.
Please note that doors to the ceremonial hall shall be promptly closed 30 minutes before the ceremony is due to begin.
Please make sure you read the ceremony agenda provided to you, as this will explain where you need to go and what you need to do upon arrival.
If you are travelling by car, please allow additional time for traffic and parking. It is your responsibility to ensure that you arrive in sufficient time for the ceremony.
Where can my guests and I park?
The venue has free on-site parking, which is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking spaces are limited, so we recommend arriving early if you intend to park at the venue.
Please allow sufficient additional time to park and make your way to the ceremony venue.
During the Ceremonies
How long do the ceremonies last and what happens during them?
The graduation ceremony will last approximately two hours.
The ceremony will begin with the entrance of the academic procession. At this point, all graduands and guests will be asked to stand. This will be followed by an opening address from the Master of Ceremonies.
Graduands will then be presented according to the order of qualification and course of study. When it is time, you will be guided from your seat towards the stage.
When your name is called, you will be invited to cross the stage, where you will be formally congratulated before returning to your seat.
Approximately halfway through the ceremony, there may be a special presentation, such as an honorary award, followed by an address from an invited guest or orator.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the academic procession will leave the venue, bringing the formal proceedings to an end.
Please remain seated throughout the ceremony unless you are instructed otherwise by a member of the ceremony team.
Will I/can I be sat with my guests?
No. Graduands will be seated separately from their guests so that they can be positioned in the correct presentation order. Your guests will be seated in the designated guest seating area.
Guest seating is unallocated. Upon arrival, your guests will be directed to available seats by members of the ceremony team.
A member of the graduand seating team will guide you to your allocated seat, which will be labelled with your name. Please ensure that you are seated at least 30 minutes before the ceremony begins and remain in your allocated seat throughout the ceremony.
Please do not change seats or exchange places with another graduand. Seating arrangements are organised according to the presentation order, and changing seats may result in you being presented incorrectly or being recorded as absent if the ceremony team is unable to locate you.
Will my degree classification be read out during the ceremony?
No. Degree classifications will not be read out during the ceremony.
Graduands will be presented in alphabetical order by qualification and then alphabetically within their course. Honours-level qualifications will be listed before non-honours qualifications.
Only the qualification, course title and graduand's name will be read out.
Will I receive my actual degree certificate at the graduation ceremony?
The graduation ceremony is a formal celebration of your academic achievement, and your official degree certificate will not be issued or presented as part of the ceremony.
During the ceremony, you will receive a ceremonial scroll provided by BNU as part of the graduation proceedings. This scroll is a commemorative item and is not your official degree certificate or award document.
Your official degree certificate will be issued separately by BNU and provided by LSST in accordance with our usual certification process. If you have any questions about when or how you will receive your official certificate, please contact the Registry and Awards team.
Will there be an official photographer at my ceremony?
Yes. The University's official photographers, Ede and Ravenscroft, will be present on the day to take official photographs. You will have the opportunity to have your photographs taken should you wish.
What should I do if I require accessible/flat floor seating arrangements, or will need assistance crossing the stage?
You will be asked to provide details of any accessibility requirements as part of the graduation registration process. We will make appropriate arrangements wherever possible if you require assistance on stage or if you or your guests require flat-floor seating.
What should I do if I or my guests feel unwell on the day?
If you or any of your guests are unwell before the ceremony, please consider whether it is appropriate to attend.
First Aiders will be in attendance throughout the ceremony and will be available to provide assistance should anyone become unwell during the event.
Are children allowed inside the graduation ceremony?
Yes. Children aged five years and above are welcome to attend the graduation ceremony as guests.
Please note that ceremonies typically last approximately two hours and involve periods of formal proceedings and seated attendance. We therefore encourage guests to consider whether the duration and nature of the ceremony will be suitable for younger children.
Children must remain under the supervision of their accompanying adult throughout the ceremony.
Will there be handshaking at the ceremony?
Graduands may choose whether or not to shake hands when crossing the stage. If you do not wish to shake hands, simply keep your hands together as you cross the stage.
Other Events and Facilities on the Day
