Summary of Speaker event with George Ghinea

Article Date | 27 November, 2017

On the 23rd of November as part of The London School of Science and Technology careers and employability program, we had the pleasure of inviting guest speaker George Ghinea BSc (Hons), MSc., PhD., MIEEE, MBCS, Professor of Multimedia Computing at Brunel University, to come to the college and speak to BA/BSc Top Up students from the Business and Information Technology faculties, on the “Importance of Post-Graduate Study” (and motivation in continuing the journey after completing B.Sc./B.A.) allowing students to explore post-graduate careers.

Over 60 students and staff attended the event which was a great success with students responding well to the speaker and asking questions throughout.

The students learned a great deal about post graduate study and how it will benefit their future prospects, experience and employability and most relevant to the Work Placement Unit, Dr. George expressed the high importance of having a successful Work Placement, in order to be “work-ready” upon completion of their studies.

The importance to connect with students to maximise and discover their potential is always at the forefront for LSST, so it was great to gain feedback from students who said they enjoyed the event, and found it interesting and informative, with the majority saying said they look forward to future similar events. Anything that motivates the students about their future, and gives them memorable opportunities to learn, will surely have a lasting impact.

The Work Placement Unit would like to thank Syed Rizvi, Associate Dean at LSST, for suggesting and recommending a guest speaker such as Dr. Ghinea, who has a clear passion to add value and impact others.
