Course overview
The overarching aim of the Business Management program is to support students to acquire and develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to work effectively, confidently and responsibly within a wide range of business organizations and corporate functions. It provides students with an excellent grounding in all aspects of business and management, incorporating knowledge from a range of disciplines such as accounting, finance, HRM, marketing and sustainability. These disciplines and philosophies have been combined together within the degree to provide students with a broad and coherent program that provides the key concepts of how business management practices ought to be innovated in the context of our emerging digital society. While providing students with a background in all areas of business, the program is designed to enable students to specialize in particular areas in order to tailor their studies to reflect their personal and future career interests. Last but foremost, the students undertaking this course, will be equipped with the necessary technological concepts which can be used to inform future business decision making for organisational improvement and development.

The overarching aim of the Business and Management programme is to support students to acquire and develop the knowledge, skills and behaviors necessary to work effectively, confidently and responsibly within a wide range of business organisations and corporate functions. It provides students with an excellent grounding in all aspects of business and management, incorporating knowledge from a range of disciplines such as accounting, economics, finance, HRM, marketing and sustainability. These disciplines and philosophies have been combined together within the degree to provide students with a broad and coherent programme that provides an advanced general education for business. While providing students with a background in all areas of business, the programme is designed to enable students to specialise in particular areas in order to tailor their studies to reflect their personal and future career interests. The programme also offers students to extend their period of study by one year by either undertaking a work placement or overseas study opportunity.
De Montfort University is introducing a new course structure known as ‘Education 2030’ where the University’s goal is for every student is to attain the best learning experience possible and to reach their goals. The new course structure is a new focused ‘block’ teaching format where students study one subject at a time rather than several at once. This structure allows students more time to engage with their studies, as well as receive quicker feedback through regular assessment and enjoy a better study-life balance while having the time to nurture other important aspects of their personal lives.

How will I be assessed?
The main teaching methods used are lectures and tutorials / seminars within the teaching sessions.
The diverse range of modules on the program provides opportunity for experiencing a range of teaching and learning approaches. This degree is unique within the field of business education because of its strong focus on experiential and problem-based learning, group work and student reflection. Students will also make extensive use of IT based learning, through the virtual learning environment.

We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds. If you have recently been in education or are returning after a long time, we would be more than happy to consider your application on an individual basis.

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and Maths
Plus one of the following:

A typical offer is 112 UCAS points. You need to study at least two subjects at A Level or equivalent (e.g. BTEC)

Mature Learners or those without formal qualifications, will need to apply via assessment-based entry process, where the admissions team will consider prior experiences (work, voluntary, life and other experiences) that are relevant to the course. Applicants applying to the assessment-based entry process will need to pass the following stages:
