A group of LSST students were given an exceptional opportunity to take part in a knife crime concerns interview with Martin Hewitt, Met Police Assistant Commissioner, at Scotland Yard on 24 January 2019.

The event, organised by LSST’s marketing department, focused on asking the Assistant Commissioner a series of thought-intensive questions about tackling knife crime violence – a topic at an all-time high. The full recording of the interview can be found here:

Commenting on the event, Renata Carvalho, LSST’s SU President, said: ‘It was an immense privilege to be invited to Scotland Yard to question AC Martin Hewitt on the numerous challenges and concerns regarding knife crime.’

Angel Terjek, Y2 Business Foundation Degree student, London campus: ‘AC Hewitt helped me understand the important role the Police services play in the prevention of knife crime – something that it is never really recognised in the mainstream media. I believe that knife crime is a collective concern needing community attention.’

Attilla Szep, Y1 Information Technology Management Degree student, London campus, added: ‘I am grateful for this opportunity and insight into Scotland Yard’s approaches to knife crime concerns. I would like to thank LSST’s marketing office for setting this event up and for helping me feel confident and prepared in interviewing one of the country’s leading authorities on knife crime.’
