Skills Bootcamp in

PAINTING & DECORATING

with CSCS Green Card

This GLA funded Skills Bootcamp is for motivated Londoners who would like to develop painting & decorating skills to a good standard, secure their CSCS Green Card and be supported into paid employment.

Who is it for?

Londoners aged 19+ who have entitlement to the GLA funding and meet other residency/ID requirements. Applicants may have worked as labourers, are into DIY or who are practically minded but have yet to secure skilled or semi-skilled work in the construction sector. This programme of around 100 hours will combine theory and practice in construction, painting & decorating. A wrap around support programme shall also accommodate learners with additional needs or who have vulnerable or at-risk factors that we can reasonably support. Every learner shall also benefit from high quality employability support as we prepare them for interviews and jobs.

For practical sessions learners should wear old clothing that they don’t mind getting dirty. Appropriate footwear is required although safety equipment such as googles will be provided for the duration of the course. This is not a physically demanding programme but learners should be confident working at heights of a max 3 meters, carrying items like paint pots, tools and ladders and potentially standing, kneeling or crouching for periods of time.

An initial assessment in English & maths along with a pre-course interview by an LSST manager shall also assess whether learners can learn safely without posing a risk to themselves or others.
