LSST Birmingham Hosts Jobs Fair Connecting LSST Students with Leading Employers

LSST Birmingham proudly hosted a successful Jobs Fair (12 November) welcoming over 20 prestigious employers eager to connect with students on-campus and showcase a vast array of excellent job opportunities. This event underscored LSST’s dedication to supporting students’ professional growth by bridging the gap between higher education and career-readiness.

 

Attendees included industry leaders across sectors such as healthcare, hospitality, logistics, construction and retail presenting LSST students with valuable opportunities to explore various career pathways and network directly with industry professionals. Notable participants included NHS University Hospitals (sic) Birmingham, Screwfix, Swift Childcare, Siemens, Healthwatch, OPUS and Leonardo Hotels.

Highlighting the event’s success and its importance for LSST’s mission, Mr Ali Jafar Zaidi, LSST’s Deputy CEO, remarked: “At LSST, we view career preparation as an essential extension of our educational programmes. LSST’s Job Fairs offer students a unique on-campus opportunity to engage with outstanding employers. These help our students gain insights into industry expectations and help them map out their professional futures. We remain committed to supporting our students at every step as they transition from academic studies to flourishing careers.”

Jobs Fairs serve as an essential resource for LSST’s students, providing insights into industry-specific roles, the latest hiring trends and facilitating valuable connections that can be instrumental in advancing students’ career prospects. These fairs play a crucial role in equipping students not only with information but also with networking opportunities that extend well beyond the classroom.

James Platt, LSST’s Careers and Employability Manager, shared enthusiasm of both students and employers, noting: “This was yet another prime example of our LSST Birmingham campus bringing first-rate opportunities directly to our students. With over 20 excellent employers from a diverse range of sectors, LSST students were able to explore hundreds of job openings and connect with professionals in fields aligned with their interests.”

The event featured an impressive variety of career prospects, from Siemens’ graduate schemes in construction to Healthwatch’s hands-on community health roles, embodying LSST’s holistic approach to career development. Students explored management and retail assistant positions at Screwfix, roles in childcare and logistics through Swift Childcare and Wincanton, as well as Leonardo Hotels’ new graduate schemes, providing a robust view of the employment landscape.

Mr Mohsin Riaz, Dean of LSST Birmingham, added; “Our student feedback highlighted the event’s positive impact and highlighted that direct interactions with industry leaders provides our students with insights and clarity on essential skills needed for their chosen fields. The on-campus Jobs Fair not only expanded students’ awareness of available roles but also guided them towards the professional competencies most valued by employers.”

Supported by LSST’s dedicated Careers and Employability Team, LSST’s Jobs Fairs remains a cornerstone event for students that equips them with the knowledge, connections and confidence needed to transition smoothly from LSST student life into successful careers.
