Business and Management students at LSST Elephant and Castle have embarked on an exciting work experience programme with Maximus UK, one of the UK’s leading employment and skills organisations. Through this new work opportunity, LSST students will gain invaluable exposure to industry practice while developing the skills, confidence and commercial awareness needed to succeed in today’s competitive labour market.

The programme (from 21 June to 1 July) offered students a unique opportunity to engage directly with a nationally recognised organisation while gaining direct insight into professional working environments.

“At LSST, our mission extends beyond delivering academic excellence; we are equally committed to empowering students with the skills, experiences and opportunities that will enable them to succeed in their chosen professions,” said Mr Ali Jafar Zaidi, CEO of LSST. “Partnerships with organisations such as Maximus UK play a vital role in bridging the gap between education and employment, helping students develop the practical capabilities that employers seek.”

The opportunity was developed and coordinated by Alessandro Rizzo, Regional Careers and Employability Officer, whose work in cultivating employer partnerships continues to create meaningful pathways between education and employment for LSST students.

“Creating opportunities that enable students to experience the workplace first-hand is one of the most rewarding aspects of our work,” said Alessandro. “This partnership with Maximus UK gives students the chance to develop valuable professional skills, gain insight into industry expectations, and build the confidence that will support their future career ambitions.”

Alessandro and his team credit Ashley Samuels, Thristana Rodney, and colleagues at Maximus UK for their collaboration and commitment to student development at LSST. Their partnership has helped create a meaningful and enriching experience that will benefit students long after the programme concludes.

“Experiential learning is an essential component of higher education,” said Charlie Tennant, Vice Principal at LSST. “Opportunities such as this allow students to complement their academic studies with practical workplace experience, helping them contextualise their learning and better understand the expectations of modern employers.”

Eniana Gobuzi, Associate Dean at LSST Elephant and Castle, said: “The programme exemplifies LSST’s strategic focus on employability, employer engagement, and career readiness, ensuring that students are equipped to navigate an increasingly dynamic labour market.”

Mr Syed Rizvi, Dean of Learning and Teaching and Academic Dean of LSST Elephant & Castle and LSST Stratford, said: “As this excellent initiative continues, students will gain experiences that extend well beyond the classroom, reinforcing LSST’s commitment to transforming potential into achievement and preparing graduates to make a meaningful impact within their professions, communities and wider society.”
