LSST students are invited to enter a prominent blog article writing competition with a £500 prize for the winner and runner-up prizes of £250 and £100. The winner will also have their article published on LSST News and be invited to a special award ceremony.

The competition, organised by Kunal Chan Mehta, LSST’s Public Relations Manager, is open to all current LSST students from all disciplines and campuses, and has been launched with panellist  support from Richard Greene, Director of Content at CNN in London, and Brianna Miller, a Researcher - and writer - at The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change to develop student writing skills for non-specialist audiences.

  ..

Mr Ali Jafar, LSST’s Deputy CEO, said: ‘This competition is based on a strong student self-development pillar. This allows students to speak up, find their own voice and write passionately about topical subjects that impact us all. I sincerely hope that students embrace this rewarding opportunity and contact Kunal for any questions.’

Speaking about the competition, Richard Allen Greene, Director of Content at CNN in London, said: ‘The voices of the best and brightest people at LSST need to be heard on the important questions facing the world today. I can’t wait to read what they have to say and I look forward to being inspired and challenged by their visions.’

Brianna Miller, a Researcher - and writer - at The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change added: ‘This competition presents an exciting opportunity for students of all backgrounds to improve their writing and have access to a valuable platform from which they can share their insights on key issues with a wide audience.’

Articles must be based on one of the following subjects that help develop critical thinking skills and the ability to logically construct an opinion:

1. How could governments use technology to improve our lives?

2. What will the world look like in 2030 if governments fully harness technology to facilitate change?

3. What will our world look like post-pandemic?

The writing competition is open to all current LSST students.

Registrations of interest must be submitted from LSST student emails to kunal.mehta@lsst.ac by 3pm on Wednesday 13 April 2022. A writing guide and competition guide will be sent to those who successfully register.
