LSST Luton’s Careers Fair, held on 23 October, was a remarkable success, bringing together 14 top-tier employers, including industry giants such as NHS Luton & Dunstable Hospital, Luton Borough Council, Amazon and Barclays. The event offered LSST students the unique opportunity to engage with leading recruiters, explore career options, and secure work placements across a range of dynamic sectors.
The in-house fair, which featured employers from healthcare to finance, provided invaluable insights into the diverse career opportunities available to LSST students in Luton and beyond. Participants included prominent organisations like NHS Hertfordshire, Impakt Housing Support, Bedfordshire Police, and Atomic Academia, all eager to engage with the next generation of professionals. This event showed the importance of networking, allowing students to build connections that could shape their future careers.
Ali Jafar Zaidi, LSST’s Deputy CEO, emphasised the transformative nature of the in-house fair: “Our LSST Luton Careers Fair was more than just an event — it was an essential experience for our students. By giving them direct access to employers like Barclays, Amazon and City and County Healthcare, we are equipping them with the tools they need to thrive in the competitive job market. These connections will be instrumental in shaping their professional journeys.”

Charlie Tennant, LSST’s Vice Principal, highlighting the long-term benefits of such events, added: “Attending job fairs can significantly enhance students’ chances of securing internships, work placements, and even on-the-spot job offers. These events broaden students’ career perspectives, helping them to refine their networking skills and positioning them for long-term professional success.”
James Platt, LSST’s Careers and Employability Manager, reflected on the impact of the event: “Hosting a jobs fair at LSST Luton was a top priority for the 2024-25 academic year and what a fantastic start to the jobs fair calendar it was! With big names and a great student turnout, these events, which take place throughout their degree, play a vital role in helping students expand their networks and discover opportunities they may never have considered before.”

The careers fair demonstrated LSST’s ongoing commitment to providing its students with invaluable career-building experiences. With access to prestigious employers and diverse industries, students left the event not just with information – but with a sense of possibility and excitement for their futures.
As LSST data consistently shows, participation in career fairs can be a game-changer for students, giving them an edge in securing internships, work placements and even job offers upon graduation. LSST Luton’s Careers Fair was a shining example of how educational institutions can bridge the gap between academia and the professional world, helping students step confidently into the next chapter of their lives.
